CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced on Wednesday they've developed a vehicle-of-interest in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in late October.
The incident happened at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, October 28 in the 700 block of W. Sugar Creek Road.
CMPD said the suspect vehicle struck a pedestrian, identified as Dandy Eugene Duncan, who was in a wheel chair. Duncan was attempting to cross W. Sugar Creek Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Police said he was operating a wheel chair at the time when he was struck and was not within an appropriate crossing or marked crosswalk.
Duncan was transported to CMC where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives are now looking for a 2006-2013 Silver Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle will have tinted windows, and will be displaying a 30 day tag or an out of state paper tag. CMPD said the vehicle will also have damage on the left front. Parts of the headlight assemble were collected at the crime scene.
