CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A customer allegedly fired shots at a suspect who was robbing a business overnight just outside of uptown Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
The robbery happened at 1:04 a.m. Friday, July 13 at the Circle K located at 701 N Graham Street.
Police said a man entered the store and took money from the register. The suspect threatened to shoot a Circle K employee during the robbery. A gun was not seen but was implied, police said.
According to witnesses, a customer inside the store during the robbery ran outside while the suspect was still inside. Once the suspect came outside, the customer fired the shots, witnesses told police.
The customer then left the scene and the robbery suspect was seen fleeing from the store on foot toward W 10th Street. He is described as a black male in his early 20s, about 5'6" tall, with a medium build.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
