CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - Authorities are investigating after someone fired shots with a suspected BB gun at a light rail train Friday afternoon in south Charlotte, officials said.
Shots were fired at a LYNX light rail vehicle about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the station I-485 and South Boulevard, according to a representative from the City of Charlotte. One the trains windows was damaged, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Fortunately no one was hurt.
CMPD said they believe the unknown suspect(s) used a BB gun or an air rifle, and fired a shot at the light rail train. The BB or pellet did not penetrate the window, however police said it did cause minor damage.
Passengers tell FOX 46 Charlotte that the incident caused delays in their travel plans. The light rail is back to normal services, according to CMPD.
GS4 and CMPD are both actively investigating this case and reviewing video surveillance.
