CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting Wednesday night in north Charlotte, police said.
CMPD said Michael Norman Smith, 29, is accused of killing William Jerome Rann Jr., 29.
Around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, officers responded to a domestic-related assault with a deadly weapon call in the 2900 block Dogwood Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.
A subject of interest, later identified as Smith, was taken to police headquarters for an interview. Detectives said they believe the victim and Smith are related to one another.
Detectives are still peaking with witnesses, but they said they are not searching for any more suspects. This murder marks Charlotte's 66th this year.
