CMPD: Man shot during bad drug deal in uptown

- A man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after he was shot during a drug deal gone bad, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. 

The shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. along 4th Street at Brevard Street.

Upon arrival, officers found Tony Davis, 32, suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks. He was taken to CMC-Main for non-life threatening injuries. 

According to CMPD, Davis was shot in a parking lot and was observed shooting back at another man due to a drug deal gone bad. Davis had cocaine in his possession and will be arrested once he is released from the hospital, police said. 

Davis has been arrested 16 times in Mecklenburg County since 2015, according to jail records. 

This case remains under investigation.
