CMPD looking for BB gun bandits striking fear in neighborhood near NoDa

CMPD is for a group of 4 men who shot BB gun bullets at employees’ cars and also hit a man in the back trying to stop them. The BB gun bandits are believed to be in their early twenties, striking fear in a neighborhood near NoDa.

One man tells Fox46 Charlotte he was shot at almost a dozen times on Monday. Paul Herbert was minding his own business at work on West 31st Street until he saw four young men shooting BB guns at his co-workers cars in the parking lot.

“I went outside because I heard pop, pop, pop!” said Herbert.  “So they are over there and I’m like ‘Hey!’  and they stop shooting cars and start shooting me.”

As Herbert ducked for cover he was shot in the back. The windows to his Jeep were shattered along with 3 others cars also hit.

“I was more concerned about my face and my eyes,” said Herbert. “So I shielded my face and just ran behind my car.”

His car window has been replaced and paid for by his company. The cabinet manufacturer has seen these hoodlums before. For the last two months the BB gun bandits have done some damage but usually over the weekend when no one is around.

“My biggest issue is… you have older kids… running around with BB guns and you have younger kids actually using the park,” said Herbert.

Right now there’s no word on a motive and police say no arrests have been made.
