CMPD looking for man who kidnapped student on way to school

Police say they're looking for a man who kidnapped and tried to sexually assault a 16-year-old high school student on his way to school. The East Mecklenburg High School student was walking to school Thursday morning when a man drove up to him and forced him in his car at gunpoint. The suspect drove away and tried to assault the student, but the student jumped from the car and got help.

Police say the student did not know the man who tried to assault him.

The suspect was driving a white 4-door Sedan, and could have been a newer Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. CMPD believes the suspect is a dark-skinned black male in his mid-30's, 5'9" and weighing 200 lbs., with shoulder length dreads, facial hair. They believe he was wearing blue jeans and a black sweat shirt.
