A man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen in Myers Park Wednesday morning is in custody and facing additional charges for a separate incident, which took place Friday morning, police said.
Larry Jarome Bailey, Jr., has been charged for his involvement in the sexual assault of two people, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The first sex assault involved a 17-year-old girl and happened about 8:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Briarcliff Place. The victim told police that a man, who she did not know, touched her inappropriately and then tried to restrain her against her will. A nearby witness was able to call 911.
The second assault happened about 5:51 a.m. Friday at East Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue. The victim told police that she was jogging when a man approached her, grabbed her from behind and proceeded to fondle her. The man then took off in a silver Toyota Camry.
Bailey was later picked up during a traffic stop. According to police, Bailey confessed to both sex assaults.
He was taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, where he is currently in custody. He is charged with first degree sex offense, kidnapping, sexual battery, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
