CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide in west Charlotte.
Police say around 4:10 p.m. on Friday, they were called to the 300 block of Fairwood Ave. for an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, officers found a 24-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital by Medic, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later. The victim was later identified as Decario Betha.
Preliminary evidence suggests that Betha was outside in the Southside Apartment complex when he got into an argument with two other people. During the argument, a suspect shot Betha. It appears the two knew each other.
Detectives are processing the scene, collecting evidence, and canvassing the area for witnesses.
