CMPD names suspect in brutal Epicentre assault

- FOX 46 is working to get results and catch a criminal after a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police identified the off-duty bouncer believed to have assaulted a man at the Epicentre earlier this month. 

CMPD says the suspect is Valentino Danny Malpeai Tofaeono.

A graphic photo showed William Daughtridge  after he said his teeth were knocked out and his jaw fractured by when the off duty security guard assaulted Daughtridge between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on June 3.

Earlier in the night Daughtridge says the two got into a tiff inside the Kandy Bar later when Daughtridge left the guy and others were waiting. He spoke with FOX 46's David Sentendrey after the assault.

"When did you first realize, ‘oh shoot, this is the guy who was inside the bar?’”  Sentendrey asked. 

“When he hit me and my mouth and I kind of fell back and looked at him,” Daughtridge said. 

The Kandy Bar confirmed to FOX 46 that the off duty security guard was asked to leave and not return.

Valentino Danny Malepeai Tofaeono is wanted for felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
