CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has released the body camera video from the officer-involved shooting of a Ukrainian immigrant in March.
A Superior Court Judge granted a petition for the release of the video and it was sent out on Monday. There are two videos from the responding officers.
On July 7 the DA decided no criminal charges would be filed against Officer Walsh for killing 25-year-old Iaroslav Mosiiuk, saying the officers had reason to believe the rifle was loaded and deadly.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on March 8 in the 1000 block of Justice Ave. According to CMPD, the officers were responding to reports of an armed man who was threatening suicide.
When the officers arrived they saw Mosiiuk carrying a rifle which he refused to put down. Officer Walsh shot Mosiiuk in the upper back after Mosiiuk had been aiming the gun in the direction of Officer Dezenzo.
A summary of the incident as well as both videos can be found here.
