Three charged with murder in University City area shooting

- Three young men are facing murder charges after a man was shot to death while driving in the University City area earlier this week, police said. 

Demahj Wright, 21, Oyontai Bostic 19, and Demetrey Leake, 20, have all been charged in the murder of 25-year-old Tevin Javonte Snow.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, detectives were able to locate and take all three suspects into custody Thursday evening. The trio were transported to police headquarters, interviewed, and turned over to the the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened just before lunchtime Monday, June 4 in the 1000 block of West W.T. Harris Blvd near IBM Drive. Police believe the group fired at least three shots into Snow's vehicle, hitting him.

After Snow was shot, he managed to cross four lanes of oncoming traffic without hitting anyone before crashing into the guardrail.
