CMPD: Suspect may be dead after possibly falling into creek while running from police

- CMPD is searching for a carjacking suspect who most likely fell into a creek while running from the cops early Tuesday morning.

Investigators don't believe the man is still alive saying he may have been swept up in the high, swift waters.

Searchers don't even know who they're looking for, because police say the other carjacking suspect, James McCorey, who has been caught, won't give them a name or description of his accomplice.

The pair was running from police because investigators say they were armed with a gun and stole a man's pick-up truck from the back parking lot of Ed's Tavern on Park Road in Dilworth Monday night.

“Dilworth's a very safe neighborhood. It's very surprising,” Kala Sigmon, the assistant manager at Ed’s Tavern, said.

“We have had a couple (customers) talking. Everybody's worried about safety,” Sigmon said.

Crews searched all day Tuesday for the suspect, but suspended their search just before 6 p.m. Tuesday because of lightning and rain.

CMPD says none of the suspect's family or friends have called to report him missing.
