CMPD: Two teens arrested in T-Mobile armed robbery

- Two teenagers have been arrested in connection to a violent armed robbery at a local T-Mobile store, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. 

Matao Kenly, 17, and Marquis Smith, 16, are facing multiple charges including second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

The robbery happened at 11:26 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the T-Mobile Store located at 4422 E. Independence Boulevard. Officers said the two teen suspects entered the store and forced two employees to the back of the business at gunpoint. 

The two teen suspects took cell phones and other items before fleeing the scene. 

Officers received information that the suspects were sitting in a vehicle on Somersworth Drive. Officers made contact with the two teens, identified as Kenly and Smith, and found the stolen merchandise from T-Mobile inside the car.
