CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Charlotte Mecklenburg police are asking for help from the public to identify a man in connection to a deadly east Charlotte shooting.
The individual is wanted for questioning in reference to the murder of a cell phone repair shop owener that took place on Monday, Jan. 14 in the 3100 block of N. Sharon Amity Rd.
The victim, 29-year-old Elchin Khalilov, was found by employees of a neighborhing shop around 11:00 a.m. with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
People who work in the area told FOX 46 the shooting started as an attempted robbery. The gunman was reportedly going after cell phones and cash, but it ended with Khalilov shot in the neck.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting. Anyone who recognizes the invidual or has information concerning the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
