CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - CMPD Police Chief, Vicki Foster, addressed Charlotte listeners Friday morning on the Power 98 Radio Station.
The visit to the station, in light of the recent shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota, was part of the department's ongoing dedication to fostering stronger community relations.
Among the topics callers brought up: the need for better police training, and more opportunities for police to get to know the people in their community.
Foster told FOX 46 Charlotte she has faith in the relationship between Charlotte citizens and the police department, and said CMPD leaders are discussing ways the strengthen that.
"We are in a good place in Charlotte. Doesn't mean people are not unhappy. Doesn't mean people are not unsettled, because people are. But I do believe that they trust us enough to believe that we will do what's right and we treat people right," Foster said.
Foster added that more programs like "Cops and Barbers" and "Cops and Kids" are exactly what the community needs to stay strong and grow closer.
