CMS returns to regular schedule on Wednesday

- CMS will be back on a normal schedule on Wednesday. This comes after dozens of schools were closed because of the winter weather.

At 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, parking lots were clear and dry at several closed schools in CMS.

The district made the unusual decision to close only 35 schools Tuesday for the safety of students and staff. The other 135 schools remained open.

Among the closed schools, Huntersville Elementary, Baily Middle in Cornelius, and Mallard Creek High School in north Charlotte.

A woman who says she teaches at whitewater academy sent us these pictures says she found ice and snow in the parking lot around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hers was one of the 135 schools that opened on a two-hour delay.

She told FOX 46 that she expected the parking lots to be cleared in the schools that opened Tuesday morning.

Parents on Facebook showed their support for closing only select schools due to power outages, icy roads, or magnet school students who were required to travel further to get to class.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced that make-up days will be set very soon.
