Community takes action after Charlotte firefighter loses battle with cancer

- It's had ripple effects in the community; a local Charlotte hero loses his life to cancer. 

Now, the public is taking action to help get the family get back on track. 

Jeff McGill fought the hardest battle of his life. The long-time Charlotte firefighter severed the department for 16 years, and lost his battle to stomach cancer on April 12, 2016. Now, his wife is left to pick up the pieces. 

Since then, the community is taking action to get results for his family who is struggling to pay his medical bills. 

The organization All Things Possible is holding a fundraiser in hopes of helping rid the family of that financial burden. 

FOX 46 Charlotte is joining in to help get results, and you can too!

The fundraiser for Jeff McGill will be hosted by All Things Possible Ministries. Details:

  • Piedmont Social House, 2135 Arsley Town Blvd. 
  • Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • 20 percent of all food and beverage sales will go toward the nearly $10,000 remaining medical bills
