Concord neighborhood stands behind man charged with assaulting 2 officers

- Folks in one Concord neighborhood are coming to their neighbors' defense after police arrested him for reportedly assaulting two officers.

The problem in their eyes - he was only trying to mow his neighbor’s yard.

According to the Concord Police Department, officers were called to Corey Moser’s Meadowview Ave. home around 1:00 a.m. Sunday to try and help sort out a family argument.

Upon arrival, that's when they found Moser had been drinking and had gone to mow the neighbor’s yard.

The family said Moser came outside just to clear his head from an argument. Police came a couple minutes later and at first they were laughing and joking  - but then things changed drastically.

Moser's cousin told FOX 46 Charlotte she saw it all take a turn.

"Everything was OK until one of the police officers put his hand on Corey. The only thing he did was throw his hands up like don't put your hands on me. Don't put your hands on me," Queen Burrough said.

While Concord police wouldn’t give FOX 46 Charlotte a copy of the body cam video, we were still able to watch it.

In it, Moser appears to be joking around, but then according to police paperwork he then threatened officers saying "he was going to take their guns away from them." That's when officers said they used pepper-spray to try and calm him down.

"They went to grabbing on him and they got him down. And they got him handcuffed and I heard one of them say stop resisting and he was like 'hey man, what are you talking about. I'm not resisting,'" Burrough said.

Neighbors who saw the exchange told FOX 46 Charlotte Moser didn't appear to be doing anything illegal.

"Twenty feet from your house, how can you be a criminal of that content if you are not even doing a criminal activity."
