Cornelius PD issue warning about post-Irma scam

- The Cornelius Police Department is warning folks to be wary of post-Irma scams in our area.

The department tweeted out Wednesday morning that they're not soliciting donations over the phone for hurricane victims.

They want residents to know that if they receive a call from Cornelius PD asking for a donation, to not give them any information. It is a scam.

The police department said if you, or someone you know, was contacted by someone saying they were with the Cornelius Police Department and you made a donation, please contact them to file a police report by coming to their department, located at 21440 Catawba Ave., or calling (704) 892-7773.
