Firefighters contain 3-alarm chemical plant fire in NE Charlotte

- Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a chemical plant Wednesday morning in northeast Charlotte. 

Crews responded to the Dow Chemicals plant at 6101 Orr Road for the report of an 'explosion'. 

Firefighters had the fire controlled in about 40 minutes. No injuries were reported. 

All businesses in the area were evacuated. The area of Orr Road at Old Concord Road was closed due to the fire. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
