CHARLOTTE, NC - Officials say a firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion Tuesday after battling a 2-alarm apartment fire in northeast Charlotte.
It happened about 9 a.m. at the Hunters Pointe apartments on Prospect Drive.

Charlotte Fire Department tweeted that they were able to control in the fire at about 9:54 a.m.

Firefighters on scene could not say if anyone was home at the time when the fire started.
A worker with Souther Restoration and Construction on scene tells FOX46 Charlotte that a firefighter was being treated for smoke inhalation.
Charlotte Fire Department tweeted that a firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for heat exhaustion.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
