CHARLOTTE, NC - Business owners in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte are saying goodbye and closing the doors.
Crown Station Coffee House and Pub is part of a shopping center that was sold to Central Piedmont Community College. The college plans to use the land for potential campus growth. The property was purchased for $5.9 million.
Owners say the notice to vacate came out of nowhere and they were frustrated the land owner made the sale to CPCC.
Saturday was Crown Station’s final farewell. They hosted several different DJs and offered free food to show their appreciation to their customers.
"I want to say thank you to everybody that has been here the past five years, that made this place what it is,” said Billy Dail, Crown Station owner.
Dail says the plan is to reopen somewhere in the city. A new location hasn’t been found yet. They are looking in the Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood, and NoDa neighborhoods.
