CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A Charlotte daycare worker accused of verbally assaulting a child and posting the video to social media has not only been fired -- but she's charged with simple assault in a whole different case.
Court records show Kiandra Long was charged with simple assault back on Feb. 9, 2016. Long was hired to work at an East Charlotte location of the Childcare Network as a full-time teacher in Summer 2015.
Long was fired following a FOX 46 investigation which shows the abuse of a child at her daycare. The video, taken from the Snapchat app, allegedly came from her account.
CMPD is investigating whether there was any criminal activity in the video. FOX 46 has chosen not show parts of the video which may be considered too obscene and involve other children at the daycare.
Childcare Network said it will not comment on current of former employees. It also would not talk to us about it's hiring practices and/or background checks before and during employment.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office was not available to comment Thursday on the circumstances surrounding Long's assault charge.
A Childcare Network manager tells FOX 46 she was unaware of the charge.
