Explosive device detonates at west Charlotte business

- Police were on scene investigating an explosion at a local business in west Charlotte.

FOX 46 was first on scene after CMPD said the device detonated at the front door of Collision Warehouse in northwest Charlotte.

The door, glass and ceiling tiles were among things damaged inside the building.

Police would not say what exactly the device was that went off, but the owner of the property tells FOX 46 it exploded overnight and no one was inside the building at the time.

The owner adds once employees arrived to work at 8:00 a.m. The glass was already busted out, then police were called.

The Fire Marshal, FBI and ATF were all on scene joining CMPD with the investigation.
