CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A viewer is reaching out to FOX 46 trying to find the whereabouts of her doctor -- who apparently closed their offices -- leaving patients in need of prescriptions and medical records.
Outside of the DEMA associates on Park Cedar Dr. a dirty sign is all the information available to patients arriving for appointments.
The sign says the office is relocating and will provide a new address by the 20th. Nearly a week after that date patient Frances Roberts says she hasn't heard a thing.
"I've heard nothing, nothing at all. No phone calls, no voicemails because I've been looking on my phone. I've actually been trying to call them and leaving messages," Roberts said.
Roberts has several conditions that she's being treated for and says she needs her medications. Her pharmacist told her they didn't know what to do and that numerous other patients of Uzumba were stuck in the same situation.
"I have diabetes 2. I also have an underactive thyroid and I take three different medications from Dr. Uzamba and I have no refills."
The doors are locked and the furniture in the lobby is all gone. The only lead is a forwarding address to a P.O. box.
"I did ask someone in one of the buildings and they said ‘they just moved.’ It was kind of a sketchy situation,” Roberts said.
FOX 46 also asked around. An employee at the office next door told us that the doctor closed the doors in Charlotte at the end of May.
"We don't know what to do, we don't know where to turn and I've actually lost my trust and faith in Doctor Uzomba and now it's going to be hard to find another doctor and go through all the new procedures," said Roberts.
Because patients can't get their medical records, Roberts says the tests and labs she's undergone over the last three years will have to be re-done with a new doctor.
FOX 46 reached out to the state medical board to find out if they are investigating any complaints. So far, we are still waiting to hear back.
