Dog trapped in truck during carjacking dies

- A dog that was inside a truck during a carjacking in Matthews Wednesday has died, officials said.

The incident happened at 2:14 p.m. in the parking lot of the Bog Lots at 10416 E. Independence Blvd.

The dog's owner told officers she was putting her dog, Sissy, into her car when a man came up beside her and threatened her with a knife. The suspect then got into the car and drove away with her dog, a boxer, still inside.

Officers discovered the stolen vehicle in East Spencer.

Two men, Keri Camps and Curtis White, were arrested Thursday morning in connection to the crime.

Authorities say the dog's body is being sent to the NC State Crime Lab for testing to determine if it was drugged.

Camps has been charged with resist, delay obstruct public officer and possession of a stolen vehicle. White has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
