CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The images Kenneth Hammonds arrived home to Sunday are hard to shake: His cat Gizmo was laying in a pile of weeds, seriously injured.
Watching his security camera footage, it showed four dogs from a neighbor’s yard attacking the cat.

"I wasn't very surprised because the dogs have gotten out multiple times," Kenneth tells FOX 46.
In fact, security footage from earlier this month, shows the dogs roaming loose. Sunday's attack in Hickory, is one that left Gizmo with bad injuries. He's barely moved since the attack.
"I broke down a couple of times seeing him like that," said Kenneth.
Kenneth’s sister, Kristy describes gizmo as a member of the family.
"My mother passed away so that was my mom’s cat,” Kristy said.
The dogs reportedly involved in the attack live next door. The homeowners tell FOX 46 that the dogs are normally inside the fence, but they escaped Sunday while the trash was being taken out.
The dogs’ owner says she feels terrible about what happened and will pay the vet bill once she sees it.
"There was a verbal agreement in front of the police officer that if we agree not to press charges that she was going to pay the vet bill and she was fine with that," said Kenneth.
But so far, the bills haven't been paid, and until the dogs are better contained Kristy says her eight-year-old daughter won't be going out alone.
"As quick as those dogs act and aggressive as they are I don't trust them," she said.
The owner of the dogs tells FOX 46 that she now has a leash outside to better contain a dog that keeps jumping the fence. The Hammonds family says they plan to file charges if the vet bill isn’t paid soon.
