Hillary Clinton spoke on Monday while Trump visited Winston-Salem with Governor McCrory.
Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence joined him as well.
McCrory told the crowd after he took the stage that the country needs an outsider.
McCrory hasn't appeared at Trump's previous campaign events in North Carolina, but the state's Republican leaders want voters to see a united party heading toward November.
