CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Some neighborhoods throughout Charlotte remain without power as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, after Tropical Storm Irma toppled trees and power lines throughout the area Monday.
Duke Energy crews have been working hard to restore power to those impacted.
"It was so pitch black last night," said Charlotte Resident Celia Nikopoulos. "It was scary."
"Compared to people in Florida and Houston, it's not that bad," said Charlotte Resident Bill Ralston.
Duke Energy is hoping to have power fully restored in the Charlotte area by the end of the day Tuesday.
Some Duke Energy crews from Eastern Carolina have been sent toward Florida to help areas that were harder hit.
