Elderly man attacked by group of teenagers outside his home

An elderly man told Fox 46 Charlotte that a group of teenagers physically attacked him outside his southwest Charlotte home in the Clanton Park-Roseland neighborhood.

“They tried to kill me. They were after money,” Carlos Woodard said.

Woodard hired two teenagers to cut his lawn back in July after seeing their work at a neighboring house. He said last Sunday, the two boys came back unannounced with two of their buddies. The group asked if they could mow his lawn.

Woodard said it was raining and told them to come back another day. The group asked to see the lawn in the backyard before leaving.

So the 79-year-old man came out the house and directed them toward the back of the home.

Once they were on the side of the house things turned violent.

“Somebody hit me in the head. I had an umbrella in my hand and I hit one of them back,” he said.

Woodard showed the injuries he sustained from the physical attack which included bruises and scratches to his jaw, arm and chest.

Woodard ran to the porch of his home where he yelled to the people inside for help.

They called 911 and the teenagers took off.

Now, Woodard is looking for justice. He wants the boys charged for the attack.

CMPD said they are still investigating the incident. As of of Sunday night no arrests had been made.
