MATTHEWS, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Family Dollar's headquarters in Matthews plans to close after the company announced that they plan to consolidate its Matthews and Chesapeake support centers to their newly-completed office tower in Virginia. The consolidation affects roughly 900 people.
Family Dollar said they've communicated plans to all associates and expect the support center consolidation to be completed by fall 2019.
While Family Dollar's headquarters facility in Matthews will be closed following the consolidation, the distribution center in Matthews will remain open.
Family Dollar said they've offered the opportunity for relocation to approximately 700 associates and will be providing job transition benefits and outplacement services to those affected.
"We have approximately 900 associates at our Matthews store support center. Approximately 700 will be offered the opportunity to relocate," Family Dollar said.
