Family still hoping for answers in decade-old cold case

- It's a haunting mystery here in Charlotte-- a cold case that remains unsolved.

November 9, 2017 marks exactly ten years since 24-year-old Kyle Fleischmann disappeared near N. Davidson Street in Uptown Charlotte.

For the Fleischmann family, many questions remain.

"It plays in my head all the time," said Kyle's Father, Dick Fleischmann.  "It never really goes away."

On a somber, cold November day, Kyle Fleischmann's family remembers his disappearance all too well.

"I mean it's not easy," said Fleischmann.  "I think to get by, he was a really good-natured guy, like his mother really.  He wouldn't want our family to suffer for what happened to him."

It's a case that has gone cold.  The last time the Fleischmann family had any contact with local police regarding the case was 2013.

A Charlotte Catholic High School graduate and a graduate of Elon University, Kyle moved back to his hometown of Charlotte after college.

On November 9, 2017, Kyle attended a comedy show before heading to Buckhead Saloon on 5th Street.  Surveillance video caught him leaving the bar around 2:20 a.m.  Kyle was believed to have walked to Fuel Pizza afterward, where he reportedly made several calls to family and a friend.

"I think the challenge we had was, a lot of the cameras on the street of Fuel Pizza were not on or they were broken," said Fleischmann.  "So we have no record of where he went except from the dog's scent which took him back to Buckhead Saloon, which I believe he was looking for his wallet and his coat.  It was probably closed, so he went back toward North Davidson I think in the wrong direction and ended up down in a neighborhood he didn't belong in."

Although a decade has now passed, the Fleischmann family will never lose hope that they will get some answers to many of the questions they've been asking for years now.

"There is no closure, really." Fleischmann said.  "You learn to live with it."

The family says they will always hold out hope for new developments regarding the case.

If you know anything about Kyle Fleischmann's disappearance, call police.
