Fans get special surprise from Cam Newton at training camp

- He's a star on the field, and for one group, he's their hero. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is getting results for fans.

On Saturday at Panthers Training Camp, Newton met with some special fans, and literally gave them the shirt off of his back, and the shoes on his feet.

It's a moment die-hard Panthers fan Sean Crosby will never forget: Cam Newton literally giving him the shirt off his back.

“Coolest experience of my life,” Sean told FOX 46.

Sean has been going to Panthers Training Camp for six years, but never had a moment like this one.

The items Cam gave Sean are now in his ‘man cave’ at his home in Tega Cay, SC, joining a host of other Panthers memorabilia-- from pictures with star linebacker Luke Kuechly and Coach Ron Rivera to jerseys of all his favorite players over the years and much more.

"This team....they’ve given me all the coolest experiences I’ve had. It's more than just a team, it’s a family," Sean said.

And that family is crucial to Sean who hasn't had the easiest life. He has Dushen muscular dystrophy, which is characterized by a progressive loss in muscle function and weakness.

Sean, now 22, has been in his chair for about 10 years but that hasn't taken away his passion for his favorite player, or his favorite team-- keep pounding Sean!

FOX 46 Charlotte also caught up 23-year-old fan Ravonte Robinson, who was lucky enough to be at Wofford College in Spartanburg that day. Robinson, who has cerebral palsy, was on the receiving end of a nice gift from the quarterback.

“I will never forget that moment,” he told FOX 46.

Robinson was proudly sitting behind Newton's cleat, something he plans to keep around for a long time. He said he plans to “put it in a box, put it on my little shelf in my room, and tell my kids about it one day.”

Super fans like him flooded Training Camp. Robinson was there with his family, when his father got the athlete's attention.

“I was so excited,’ he said, although he does have one more request of the Carolina Panthers player.

“[To] tell him personally, thank you.”

But until then, he'll keep this cleat as a reminder of one of the best days in his life. He says he’s excited to be one of the lucky ones to get something from one of his favorite players.

“Soon as I got the shoe, so many people wanted to take pictures of the shoe,” he said.

Robinson spent three days at Training Camp. This was his first time going, and not only did he get Newton's shoe, he also got a signature on a football from Thomas Davis.
