Police identify man shot and killed in northeast Charlotte parking lot

- A man was shot and killed outside a northeast Charlotte shopping center Tuesday night, officials said.

The victim has been identified as Demetrius Thomas, 27. His family has been notified of his death. 

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. in the parking lot at 6701 N. Tryon Street, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Investigators said Thomas was standing outside one of the businesses in the shopping center when an unknown male suspect approached and shot him. The suspect then took off on foot.

Thomas was pronounced dead on scene. No arrests have been made at this time.
