Fire Department investigating Gastonia house fire

Gastonia firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday evening rescuing  a dog and two cats.

The Gastonia Fire Department were called out to the fire around 5:35 p.m. at the 2600 block of Crawford Avenue.

When firefighters arrived smoke and flames were coming from the back of the home.

The firefighters put out the fire in the kitchen and another room in the home in ten minutes.

A person was sleeping inside when the fire broke out but was woken up by a smoke alarm.

An estimated amount of $25,000 was caused by the fire in damages.

The Fire Marshall's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
