CHERRYVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A former Cherryville police officer who previously spent time in prison is now back in jail.
Frank Dellinger, 45, was arrested on Monday after being accused of taking items from a designer’s warehouse in Charlotte to show to potential customers. Reports say Dellinger didn't pay for nearly $2,000 worth of items.
In 2014, Dellinger was sentenced to three years in prison for his part in an investigation into stolen goods and cash involving the Cherryville Police Department.
Investigators say Dellinger and another Cherryville police officer used their status to provide protection for tractor trailers passing through Gaston County.
Investigators say they believed the trailers were filled with stolen items and the officers agreed to protect the goods in exchange for cash.
Dellinger has been charged with felony larceny.
