Already accused of sexual assault, former teacher faces new charges related to case

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Special Victims Unit has charged a former middle school teacher with additional charges following his first arrest in July for sexually assaulting a child.

Charles Ray Naas, Jr., was taken into custody early Friday morning, August 18 and charged with six counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Naas was originally arrested on July 1 and charged with indecent liberties with a student by a teacher and sex act with a student.

On June 30, Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit said they were notified by CMPD regarding an investigation concerning sexual assault that involved a teacher who worked at Alexander Graham Middle School and a student.

During the investigation it was determined the young vitim would go to Nass' home for tutoring when the inappropriate contact was made. The incident occurred while Naas was employed as a teacher.

The Crimes Against Children Unit continue to work this case to determine if there are any additional victims. This case remains an ongoing, active investigation.
