MINT HILL, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - More charges have been filed against a former substitute teacher accused of having inappropriate contact with students. Three additional victims have been identified, Mint Hill police said.
Lamont Deshon Barrett, 31, was charged Thursday with eight additional counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of disseminating obscenity.
The additional victims are between 16 and 18 years of age. Police said two victims are male and the other is female. Some of these charges stem from activity on campus, near the end of the last school year, and some stem from activities off campus.
Barrett is a former substitute teacher at Rocky River High School, just east of Charlotte. He was arrested Sept. 14 on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Police said Barrett used his cellphone to show pornography to a 16-year-old student while in the class. They said Barrett was alone with the student immediately after the class.
Barrett was removed from class Sept 1 and fired Sept. 14.
This investigation is still ongoing and parents are still encouraged to speak with their children and come forward if any inappropriate interaction transpired.
