Former teacher, girls basketball coach accused of sexual misconduct with 16-year-old turns self in

- A former teacher and girls basketball coach accused of sexual misconduct with a minor has turned himself in to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Chrrisopher Clark, 42, reported to the Chesterfield County Detention Center on Wednesday morning.

He is accused of having inappropriate sexual conduct with a 16-year-old on several different occasions from Dec. 2016 to Dec. 2017 while they were at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School.

Clark was previously dismissed from his job as head coach of the Chesterfield girls basketball team.

“We must protect the trust that parents have in teachers and their influence in the lives of our children,” said Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks, who stressed Clark is only accused and has not been convicted of any crime. “We must assure parents that the school district and the sheriff’s office will do everything in our power to protect our students. Inappropriate relationships between teachers and students can cause lifelong damage.”
