Former UNC-Charlotte QB pleads not guilty to rape charges

- Former UNC-Charlotte quarterback Kevin Olsen pleaded not guilty to rape charges Thursday during his hearing at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.

The younger brother of Panthers star Greg Olsen faces rape and assault charges. He appeared in court at 9:30 a.m. with his lawyer and parents.

Upon arrival Olsen was expect to tell the judge in his own words he "is 100 percent not guilty." Olsen's attorney said he was offered a plea deal but rejected it.

When asked if they are confident in the case Olsen's attorney said they, "are confident in the court system."

Olsen was formerly indicted by a grand jury on rape charges in May 2017. He accused of beating up and sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend.

Olsen was arrested on Feb. 19 in Charlotte and charged with three counts of felony second-degree forcible rape, communicating threats, assault on a female, and second-degree sex offense.

The victim said the assaults took place in Olsen's apartment near the UNC-Charlotte campus. The 6'3", 215 pound Olsen was freed on a $103,000 bond.

Olsen's accuser was seen in the courtroom Thursday and grabbed her stomach as she walked out.

Each of Olsen's rape charges carries a possible 10 year sentence.
