CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Another teen is now behind bars following the murder of a Charlotte mother.
The morning of this murder detectives said they were going to do everything they could to bring closure for the family.
In less than a week four people are now in jail in connection to 36-year-old Maria Gomez' murder.
Gomez was shot and killed during a robbery around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3 in the 6200 block of Barrington Drive.
16-year-old Ziaya Jackson got out of a patrol car and walked into CMPD headquarters for questioning on April 8.
Police say she turned herself in Sunday afternoon. She's now charged with murder and robbery.
Last week, officers arrested 19-year-old Antonio Shine and 17-year-old A'vone Williams along with a 15-year-old whose name is not being released because of his age.
Police say as Gomez tried to leave for work around Tuesday morning she was robbed and then shot her outside her Barrington Dr. apartment. She later died at the hospital.
Police say neighbors played a key role in cracking this case so quickly.
“Model what these heroes have done, not just detectives but community members who stepped up and gave us what we needed they and what I’ll tell you is they have a great feeling about what they have done and we should all model that,” said CMPD Chief Kerr Putney.
Jackson is expected to make her first appearance before a judge Monday afternoon.
