CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Investigators are working to determine how Ashanti Billie's body got all the way from Virginia Beach to Charlotte. Billie had been missing since September 19 and her body was found last week on Grier Grove Rd. near Beatties Ford Rd.
The Garden Park neighborhood association, where Billie’s body was found, held a meeting Thursday to discuss what they could do to prevent from events like this one from becoming the norm.
CMPD’s Metro Division attended Thursday's meeting. Officer gave an update on recent crime reports in the area.
"A window was broken; some items were stolen out of that house. The good part about that is there were some prints found on the back window and we actually have a suspect in that one and warrants have been signed but he hasn't been picked up,” Officer said.
Many still saddened to hear that no one has been charged with Billie's murder but even more appalled that a crime like this happened their neighborhood.
"This particular case doesn't seem to have a direct connection to my neighborhood but the fact that a body shows up in my neighborhood does bring us into the situation," President of the neighborhood association Joshua Richardson said.
They tell FOX 46 their relationship with CMPD is strong but they want to know if more can be done and send a strong message to others this won’t be accepted
"This is not something that this neighborhood is about and anyone who wants to engage in such activities, there's the door," Richardson said.
