Gastonia man found dead, suspect captured

BESSEMER CITY, NC (WJZY) - A Bessemer City man is charged with murder after a man is found dead around 10:30AM on McAbee Lane.

The victim was 27-year-old Gastonia man David Watson, found dead with a possible gunshot wound, according to Gaston County Police. After an immediate follow-up investigation, police identified the suspect as Naijii Boyd, 22, of Bessemer City. An arrest warrant was obtained, charging Boyd with homicide.  Boyd reportedly fled the scene with other people from that address.  Detectives are working to determine if the people were taken against their will.

Police do not know if these men knew each other, but they do know the men knew people in common.

Boyd was caught without incident in Burlington, NC at approximately 3:00pm. Concord Police Department and Burlington Police Department provided assistance to Gaston County Police in his capture.  

Additional charges may follow as the investigation evolves. The investigation is on-going.
