Gastonia police seek public's help in identifying armed robbery suspect

- The Gastonia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person involved in two weekend armed robberies.

Officers say the first robbery happened at the Express Mart, located at 937 E. Garrison Blvd., on Saturday night, and the other occurred at the Family Dollar, located at 111 W. Garrison Blvd., on Sunday night.

In both robberies, police say a white male threatened store clerks with a knife and stole cash from the registers.

No one was hurt, police say.

Images of the suspect were captured on surveillance video. He's described as about 5'9" tall, 150 lbs, with a thin mustache. The man was last seen wearing a knit-style hat, a black full-zip hoodie, jeans and tennis shoes.

Officers say the suspect left the scene in an older model pickup truck, single cap, gray or silver with rust spots.

Anyone with information on the suspect or these two crimes is asked to call Detective Jeff Wooten at 704-842-5127 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
