Getting Results Update: NODA Animal Hospital prepares for move

- The NODA Animal Hospital is down to the last two weeks of its lease and may have to close for a short time.

The biggest challenge for Dr. Oona Gayle is where she will move her business. She has been in NODA since the beginning and over the weekend some of the moving process will begin, but for right now it’s not to a permanent location, but storage instead.

“I am excited, but at the same time I am a little worried,” said Dr. Oona Gayle.

With 15 days left on her lease, and the clock ticking, Dr. Oona Gayle wishes she could announce a new location for the NODA Animal Hospital.

“I may have to close the hospital the first 2 weeks in August,” said Dr. Oona Gayle.

After working with her attorney, the landlords at her current location wouldn’t allow her to stay past the end of July. FOX 46 Charlotte has tried reaching out to the company, but we never heard back.

Stuck with a paper trail, a potential new building near Eastway Drive won’t be ready until early August.

“I am going to have to cancel appointments, I will disappoint my clients,” said Dr. Gayle.

Dr. Gayle’s biggest worry is others.  She hopes to continue to provide paychecks for her employees. A group of women, who have made a stressful process a little easier.

“I am always worried about them, I wanna make sure they don’t lose their apartment or home or get into a bind because I have to close my doors for a short period of time,” said Dr. Gayle.

To ensure a quick transition to a new location a group of volunteers met Friday night for what could be their last meeting before the move.

“Get everybody together and coordinate who has the ability to help, what we can do to get started and sorta prep for that final weekend when we really need to clean out the space,” said one volunteer.
