Girlfriend of man shot, killed by authorities in Chester says he wouldn't point gun at officer

- A man was shot and killed by Chester County authorities late Tuesday night following a high speed chase.

There are claims that the suspect, 20-year-old Dustin Case, pointed a gun at the responding law enforcement officers, but Case’s girlfriend, Kayla Nicole Bowman, who spoke only to FOX 46, says she doesn't believe her boyfriend would do that.

Deputies are saying Case stole a car from a guest at the Super 8 Motel, led them on a chase, spun out on the highway and pointed a gun at officers as they approached the car.

“He was hurt and he was trying to get rid of it and they shot and killed him, he wouldn't have done nothing like that because he wants to be with his daughter more than anything but now he won't get that chance,” Bowman said.

Neighbors on First St. in Chester were terrified by the sounds of gunfire that rang out.

“I heard rapid fire like in the military,” one resident said.

The sheriff has not named his deputy or the Chester Police officer who fired at Case.

He says Case was inside the stolen car, pointing a gun at a Chester officer when a deputy and an officer fired. Multiple shots hit Case.

“I definitely feel my officers were justified in the shooting, these officers put their lives on the line every day, this situation saved people in Chester saved individuals on the street and in the community,” Chester County Sheriff Alex Underwood said.

The sheriff says he believes officers told case to put the gun down, but he has not yet reviewed all the dash cam and officer body worn cameras related to the shooting.

The sheriff says drugs were also found in the car. A gun was recovered, and there was also cash inside the car Case was driving, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
