Mother, son pistol whipped in front of 4-year-old

- Terrifying moments of a cashier being pistol whipped in front of her grandson during an armed robbery at a Gaston County gas station over the weekend were caught on camera.

It all happened Saturday night at the Mini Mart, located at 719 McAdenville Road in Lowell, NC. Surveillance video shows the suspect pistol whip the cashier and her 19-year-old son. The woman's 4-year-old grandson was also present at the time.

"He [the suspect] has no conscience. If he is so callous that he can point a gun at a four year old," said the clerk, who has FOX 46 Charlotte not to use her name.

The suspect demanded cash from the register, but it never opened. The man gave up, running out to a waiting car in the parking lot, but not before grabbing a few packs of cigars on the way out.

The violent attack is hard to watch. The clerk involved returned to the job less than 24 hours after the incident.

"I had to see if I could handle it. Cause I gotta survive," the clerk said.

Lowell Police say the car involved in the robbery was found abandoned in Gastonia. They believe that vehicle was carjacked earlier in the weekend.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is urged to contact police.
