The victim was discovered inside a vehicle at 11:49 a.m. Thursday, March 29 with an apparent gunshot wound in the 8100 block of South Tryon Street, near the Panera Bread.

The man was pronounced dead on scene by Medic. His name will be released once family has been notified. This is Charlotte's 12th homicide.

Andre Davis works near the Panera told FOX 46 that he’s "very shocked."

"We don't have anything like that happening over here that often. A little unnerving actually," Davis said.

Police say It’s unclear how the car ended up in the Panera Bread parking lot or how long it took for the body to be discovered.

Davis says, "it makes me feel a little unsafe, but I usually work during the daytime so it helps."

FOX 46 spoke with nearby business owners and managers. They tell us they didn't hear any gunshots Thursday morning before the body was discovered.

Detectives are canvassed the area to determine whether there were any witnesses to this murder, but this remains an ongoing, active investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
