HUNTERSVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Drivers were stuck on I-77 northbound for hours overnight after a tractor trailer burst into flames shutting down the interstate in the Huntersville area.
The wreck happened at I-77 NB before the Huntersville - Gilead Road Exit 23.
Some drivers were reportedly sleeping in their cars due to the extensively long shut down. Around 4:55 a.m. Thursday, the right lane opened on the interstate.

Around 6:00 a.m all lanes finally reopened.
No word on the driver's injuries at this time. Check back for updates as they become available.
